How NISSAA handles personal information in LIMA. Last updated 14 October 2026.
🏫Who is responsible
Each school decides what information it puts into LIMA and is responsible for it. NISSAA provides and runs LIMA for the school and handles that information only to provide the service.
📋What information LIMA holds
• Students: name, class and section, School Registration ID, roll number or date of birth, and optionally a parent's phone and email, as provided by the school.
• Conversations: questions asked to LIMA and its replies, requests sent to the school, and replies from staff.
• Staff: name or username, email, phone and role.
• Website enquiries: details you enter in our forms, such as your name, email and phone number, and whether your number was verified with a one-time code.
• Calls and WhatsApp: if you ask us to contact you, our AI assistant Lima may call you. Calls are recorded and transcribed so our team can follow up and improve the service. WhatsApp messages we send you and your replies are kept with your enquiry.
• Technical: device and browser type, and app version, used for security and to fix problems.
🎯How it is used
To answer questions from the school's own information, send requests to the right staff, email codes and notifications (for example to parents to approve requests), keep accounts secure, respond to enquiries, and improve LIMA. Questions are processed by an AI service provider to generate answers. We do not sell personal information or use it for advertising.
👀Who can see it
Each student sees only their own information. School staff see what their role allows. NISSAA staff access it only to run, support and secure the service. Service providers we use (hosting, database, email, AI and voice) process it on our behalf.
🗑️Keeping and deleting it
Information is kept while the school uses LIMA. Students can delete their own chat history in the app. Schools can delete student records and conversations from their admin panel. When a school stops using LIMA, its data is deleted. To stop WhatsApp messages and calls about an enquiry, reply STOP on WhatsApp (START turns them back on), or write to us.
